A good rule-of-thumb is to eat no more than six small meals that are high in carbohydrates each day. These meals should be enough to cover the body’s daily requirements for carbohydrates. You should also drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Treatment for mild hypoglycemia usually involves using glucose tablets and/or insulin injections. However, treatment is usually only necessary when you have no other options. If a patient continues to experience uncontrolled elevated blood glucose levels despite treatment and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, then the patient should speak with their physician.
In many cases, at-home treatment involves regular injections of insulin. However, if a patient does not follow their doctor’s orders, then an insulin pump may be required.

In some cases, you can eat a small amount of bread that has quite a bit of gluten and still be perfectly healthy. However, if a patient has hypoglycemia, it is extremely important to avoid anything that has gluten or any other ingredient that can cause low blood sugar. It may also be prudent to limit their consumption of processed beverage products such as soda, iced tea, and other types of beverages that contain sugar.
As noted above, symptoms of hypoglycemia can be serious enough that immediate action should be taken when necessary. If you find that a patient’s blood glucose levels are dangerously low, then a doctor must attend to them. A doctor may order a patient to stay overnight at the hospital to administer IV in order to help raise their blood glucose levels.
